1. The Figurehead
Revelation 2:8 (ESV)-“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life.

2. The flame
A. Uncompromising
Revelation 2:9 (ESV)-“I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.”

B. Rich
Revelation 2:9 (ESV)-“‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.”

C. Committed
Revelation 2:9 (ESV)-“I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.”
3. The flicker
Revelation 2:10 (ESV)-“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

Word Study: tribulation- θλῖψις-[thlipsis]- distress; affliction; oppression. This word typically speaks of difficulties that come from the outside. The church in Smyrna’s troubles were not their own making.

4. The Fuel
A. Be Courageous
Revelation 2:10 (ESV)-“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

B. Be Faithful (No matter the cost)
Revelation 2:10 (ESV)-“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

C. Be Trusting (Have faith in Him and His promises)
Revelation 2:11 (ESV)- “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.”
Keep being faithful no matter the cost.
Trust in God at all times.
Remain committed despite what others do or say.
Live for eternity.

Here Is The Point: As churches and individuals we must never lose our faith in God!
